Mandibular Advancement Device Design for Chairside
In-Clinic 3D Printing

The Hushd Pro Avera is a clinically prescribed oral appliance for the treatment of snoring and/or mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea. It is also a solution for people who are CPAP intolerant or desire an alternative treatment to CPAP.

Same proven design

The chairside 3D printed Hushd Pro CS-Avera shares the same proven design as the nylon version. The design remains the same, but the 3D printing production method is handled in-clinic (rather than being produced in a lab).

HUSHD PRO CS-AVERA

What it does

The Hushd Pro CS-Avera device is intended to reduce or alleviate snoring and mild to moderate OSA in adults.
Each Hushd Pro CS-Avera consists of an Upper and three Lower dental splints. The Upper dental splint has two protrusive blocks, one on each side. The three Lower splints have dorsal fins that engage with the Upper splint blocks. The device is designed to advance the mandible forward to achieve airway opening during sleep. Incremental forward positioning of the jaw is achieved by combining the different Upper and Lower splints.
Indications for use
  • Patients with mild to moderate sleep apnea (OSA)
  • Patients who are intolerant to other treatments for OSA
  • Patients who snore
Ordering process

Patients who are identified as benefiting from the device, have an intra-oral scan or physical impression taken by a dentist. The data is submitted to Good Sleep Co. for device production protocols. The custom template is returned back to the dental clinic that requested it. A custom-made Hushd Pro CS-Avera can then be3D printed in-clinic. It is supplied to the patient as a ready-to-use package. (Optional ‘fitting’ of the device involves a dentist checking that the device fits perfectly and is ready for use.)

How it works

Using the device
Patients use the device overnight (or when sleeping) by placing the Upper and Lower splints (or arches) onto the respective teeth, ensuring the Lower arch dorsal fin is positioned in front of the Upper arch block. After use, the device is removed carefully one arch at a time. Once cleaned, it should be stored safely in the supplied storage dish. (Precautions and Contraindications are listed in the device IFU.)
Mandibular Advancement

There are 3 advancement positions or ‘combinations’ as standard for the Hushd Pro CS-Avera (a total of 11 advancement positions available on request). Adjusting the combinations (to progressively move the lower jaw further forward) is called Titration or Mandibular Advancement. The recommended starting combination is Upper 1(U1) with Lower 1 (L1). To advance the combination, U1 stays, but L1 changes to L2. After that it’s U1 with L3.

Advancement Sequence
Monitoring Sleep

To assess a patient’s sleep quality, feedback from a sleep monitoring device like the Good Sleep Test, provides real-time feedback, and the option to generate a Specialist Report. The benefit of the Good Sleep Test is that it’s unobtrusive and can be used at home with ease. Patient sleep data is shared directly from the device to the practitioner, making it a practical sleep-review option for both patient and practitioner.
